ABOUT QRKEEPPERMANENT ENCODING

What is QRKeep and Why is it Free & Permanent?

QRKeep is a free, privacy-first QR code generator built for people, creators, and businesses who need reliable, permanent QR codes that never expire. Many online QR generators create “dynamic” redirects that route scans through an intermediate database to track user telemetry, only to disable your code after 14 or 30 days unless you purchase an expensive monthly subscription.

QRKeep works on a direct-encoding architecture: your destination URL is compiled directly into the binary 2D geometry of the QR matrix itself using the international ISO/IEC 18004 standard. Because there is no redirect server, database lookup, or third-party intermediary, the QR code functions permanently for life. The SVG or PNG file you download will scan accurately forever on any smartphone camera.

All generation calculations execute 100% client-side in your browser using native JavaScript. Your inputs never touch our servers or get logged. QRKeep is hosted on Cloudflare Workers edge network and supported by minimal, non-intrusive advertising so that the tool remains $0 forever for everyone.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

VIEW ALL 18+ QUESTIONS →

Is QRKeep really free forever? Why?

Yes, QRKeep is completely free with no hidden charges, trials, or credit card requirements. Because generation happens client-side in your browser, server compute costs are minimal. Our hosting infrastructure on Cloudflare Workers edge network is supported by light, non-intrusive display ads.

Do QRKeep codes ever expire?

No, never. QRKeep codes never expire. Data is encoded directly into the physical matrix pattern rather than routing through an expiring database redirect. As long as your destination URL remains active on the internet, your QR code will scan reliably for decades.

What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?

A static QR code encodes your actual URL directly into the matrix; it requires no database, never expires, and is 100% private. A dynamic QR code routes through an intermediary SaaS server, which can be paywalled, shut down, or used to track visitor telemetry. Read our full static vs dynamic comparison.

Is my data stored, logged, or tracked?

No. QRKeep has a strict zero-data-logging architecture. The text and URLs you enter are processed locally in memory on your device and never sent to or stored on our servers. When someone scans your code, their phone navigates straight to your website without contacting QRKeep.

What is the minimum recommended print size?

The standard optical rule of thumb is a 10:1 distance-to-size ratio (Scan Distance ÷ 10). For business cards, print at least 0.8 × 0.8 inches (20 × 20mm). For restaurant standees, print at least 1.5 × 1.5 inches. View our complete print sizing chart.

Which export format should I download: SVG or PNG?

Always download the vector SVG format for professional physical printing on signage, packaging, and merchandise. SVGs have infinite resolution and print razor-sharp at 300+ DPI. For digital slides and email signatures, download the high-res PNG.

Are there any scan limits or usage caps?

There are zero scan limits. Whether your printed QR code is scanned 10 times or 10,000,000 times, it will continue to work indefinitely with no monthly quotas or bandwidth caps.

Can I use QRKeep codes for commercial products?

Yes. You retain 100% ownership over your encoded data and generated images. You are granted an irrevocable, royalty-free, perpetual commercial license to use exported codes on merchandise, books, packaging, and advertising without attribution.
